  • If it weren't for the dude with the helmet and rifle, I'd think this was a novel about the music scene in Amsterdam. That guy's trying to sneak into a club to see bands from the Dauntless Dutch Underground.
  • Since this is the Netherlands, I'm assuming that thing behind our hero is a giant bong.

  • "Quisling" is just one of the best words in the English language (or any language, I'd imagine). This plot actually sounds a little awesome.
  • His name anagrams to RUN, VAN IS MONIKER

After a long time the professor sighed.

Looks like a prime candidate to send to a boy in the armed services for only 3 cents.

The large Pocket Book symbol at the top kind of ruins the whole picture. I wish they had put it somewhere else, and much smaller.

Otherwise, this sounds like an interesting book.

I would definitely read this. It actually looks like a lot of fun.

"Quisling" sounds like the most awesome Scrabble word ever.

Maybe because quisling isn't an English word -- it's from a Norwegian name (Vidkun Quisling).

Names are often pretty funny in other languages; two good German companies are Assman (connectors) and Sick Optics (sensors).

Quisling run the puppet government for the Nazis in Norway during WWII. He was eventually executed. His name is now synonymous with "traitor."

BTW, that page 123 has the be the dullest one ever.

That should read "has to be the dullest one ever." It was so dull, it made me mis-type.

I like the perspective art on the cover...the farther away guy is small, the closer guy is big.

JRSM said...

Like in Father Ted: "No, Dermot, THOSE cows are far away, THIS cow is small."

Three alleged "sentences" in the back blurb. Only one of those is actually a grammatical sentence. Just sayin'.
