  • When the Bride of Frankenstein sleeps, she dreams of the facades of junior high schools.
  • I sort of like the torn cover effect, but the rest — it's both nonsensical and ugly. The color scheme alone is a nightmare.
  • "Colonel Primrose" already sounds like someone I'd like to kick in the balls.

  • If only this book were about a "gimlet-eyed" cat.
  • Always sad when the original cover is light years better, design-wise, than the paperback.

"He sure am smart, ain' he?" William said, with quite genuine enthusiasm.

In case you were still entertaining some idea of actually reading anything written by this woman...

  1. When I was kicked in the balls I turned the same colour as the woman on the cover. And I was in high school at the time. This book is about ME!

  2. Colonel Primrose? Really? Did he serve with Major Ponce and General Emasculation?

And I have never understood the term "gimlet-eyed" -- I always figured that was what Nick and Nora Charles had.

  3. I can't tell if Bantam is kissing Scribner's ass or passive-aggressively saying they suck with that "large sale and effective promotion" stuff.

  4. You wouldn't dare attack Colonel Primrose if he had Major Begonia and Sergeant Pansy with him.
