I mean, even if he is disguised as a female, that does not make him a female man.

>_>

__________________________________________
http://coverjunkie.blogspot.com/Nicole "Gidget" Kalsteinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03812924528578021534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4660994103025515363.post-21036312249914831132009-08-24T12:35:13.291-07:002009-08-24T12:35:13.291-07:00Of course you are right that it's the fourth s...Of course you are right that it's the fourth sentence. You are not right that it works well. I get that the subject is being hidden so you can get the "pow" effect of the reveal: there are no "men" (who would normally be the subject of those verbs in the active voice). But still ... "wildernesses conquered" is ugly icing on awkward cake.

I too have been meaning to read this for some time. It's like _Don Quixote_ in that respect, only I've tried and failed several times to read DQ. Not so w/ this one.

rpRex Parkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16145707733877505087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4660994103025515363.post-38519237047043311372009-08-24T12:28:03.963-07:002009-08-24T12:28:03.963-07:00There's no passive voice in the second sentenc...There's no passive voice in the second sentence. There's a bunch in the fourth, but I think it works well here.

Joanna Russ is something a first-generation feminist icon in the SF field. I have her non-fiction book How to Suppress Women's Writing sitting high up on my to be reread pile.Jamie Rosenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03025283302198707150noreply@blogger.com
